What kind of support does your company offer to those who purchase the program?
We offer unlimited telephone and email
support during the first year. We provide on-site support for $400 a day
plus travel expenses. We also assist in the development of tests, surveys,
performance evaluations, and much more for very reasonable fees. We can
provide plug and play servers with our software already installed and ready
to go.
Is there a fee to maintain extended support?
There is a fee for special services. We do
not generally charge a fee if clients write or call us even after the first
year as long as it is not excessive. We do have periodic upgrades to our
software and may charge a minimal fee for them after the first year.
In what form is the data stored? Is it a SQL server? The test questions, passwords, and answers for the randomly generated tests are stored in a single SQL database. The student records, names, and passwords for the randomly generated tests are also stored in the same SQL database.
Is RoboTutor designed so we can modify the program or is
it “locked”?
The application is written in open source HTML, ASP, and
JavaScript code and can be easily modified by any web programmer. All we ask
is that if users fix errors or develop new features, they notify us and send
us a copy.
Can RoboTutor import and export data? Yes, it can import tests and student data from RoboTutor Access databases. It can also export to those database. So there is complete compatibility between the two versions. Tests can also be imported from text files. Most of the reports can be copied and easily pasted in Microsoft Access. Is RoboTutor designed so we can turn off randomization? Yes, it lets you turn on or off the random presentation of test questions. It also lets you turn on or off the randomization of sub-options under each multiple choice question. If I want the Access version in addition to the SQL version, what does it cost and what do I get?
